The region consists of 17 groups throughout the Scottish Borders, Dumfries & Galloway,

Edinburgh, Lothians and Fife

The groups within the region provide different activities for adults and children with disabilities.

  They also create an amazing environment for anyone who has time to volunteer with any of the groups.

Riding

Riding is a fantastic platform for learning, personal development and therapy – as well as being a fun and healthy activity in its own right.  Coaching someone in the skill of riding opens up a world of opportunities to achieve, maintain an active lifestyle and make friends for life.

Carriage Driving

Sociable, skilful, gentle or fiercely competitive – carriage driving is a uniquely enjoyable experience for participants of all ages and abilities.  Side by side with an RDA driving coach, participants benefit from the learning skill of the driving as well as enjoying the companionship and teamwork the activity promotes.

Endurance

Scalable to suit where you ride and how far your riders want to go, RDA endurance starts at 1km and extends to 15+km at competition level.  Endurance rides add to a range of new skills including equine welfare and following a course, as well as educational elements such as counting, heart rate, fitness, speed and distance.

Vaulting

Encouraging teamwork, coordination and fun, vaulting at RDA offers participants an exciting challenge and the opportunity to achieve things they may never have thought possible.  Working in complete harmony with the rhythm and movement of the horse, vaulters learn to use their balance, strength and growing confidence with breath-taking results.

Showjumping

From perfect pole work to aiming high RDA showjumping adds excitement to any riding lesson.  With levels 1-5 (up to 80cm), our pathway offers a challenge for even your most fearless of riders.  Showjumping is a test of agility, skill and technique, and offers a chance to set new goals and achieve more.
